Who We Are

Project Angel Heart was founded to address a major challenge for Coloradans who are severely ill: getting the nutrition they need to get stronger, heal, and remain at home. Many are too sick to get to the grocery store and unable to cook for themselves. Others find they have to choose whether to buy food or medication to make ends meet.

Our vision is for all Coloradans living with severe illness to have access to nutritious food that supports their health and well-being. To that end, we compassionately deliver comfort and support through high-quality nutrition services, including medically tailored meals, while also advocating for the principles of “Food is Medicine.”

What We Do

Project Angel Heart prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to people living with severe illnesses such as cancer, heart failure, kidney disease, COPD, and many more. Each week, our professional chefs and registered dietitians prepare thousands of delicious meals from scratch and customize them to meet the specific medical and dietary needs of each individual. Volunteers help us package and deliver these meals at no cost to our clients. We don’t have any age requirements, so clients range from young children to older adults, and we also serve clients' dependents to ensure the entire household has convenient, nutritious meals at hand during challenging times.

“I can’t say enough about Project Angel Heart. During chemo, I struggled so much. I started receiving Project Angel Heart meals, though, and everything changed. I had more energy, I slept better. I was finally getting what my body needed to get through the treatment. Thank you, thank you!” – Elizabeth, age 58, living with cancer
