JOB OVERVIEW 

The Housing Navigation Center (HNC) is a physical location where those experiencing homelessness receive support to regain housing, and those at risk of homelessness are prevented from losing their housing. As part of Housing Stability, Weld County’s initiative to address and prevent homelessness, the HNC provides clear access to housing services ranging from homelessness prevention to an Overnight Shelter. 

 

This position is responsible for brokering community housing solution resources with guests, conducting assessments, general administrative tasks, and maintaining the cleanliness of the HNC.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Position Specific

Greet guests when they enter the Day Shelter, ensuring that they are assisted appropriately Answer phones and refer calls to staff; set up appointments when necessary Perform routine administrative tasks  Monitor and maintain the day shelter space to ensure proper utilization of services for guests Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and professionalism of the Housing Navigation Center Assist with regular HNC operations as needed

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS 

Excellent customer service and phone skills Organizational skills, detail-oriented, attention to deadlines Self-motivated; proven excellent performance standards and quality of work Effective interpersonal communication skills including written and one-on-one conversations Ability to multi-task with constantly changing priorities and excellent follow-through  Ability to work independently and as a team player Ability and desire to work with people from various backgrounds and/or limited English capabilities

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

High school diploma or equivalent

Part-Time Internship, hours flexible 9 AM – 3:30 PM Supervisory duties: None Reports to: Assistant Director of Shelter Operations  Location: Greeley, CO  Eligible for remote work: No, not applicable Background check required Bilingual Spanish-speaking is a bonus

You will spend three weeks developing your culinary skills and school food knowledge through virtual and work-based program components at Greeley-Evans School District 6. The Pre-Apprenticeship culminates in a job interview with the host school district and, if you gain employment, you can apply for the nine-month School Food Specialist Apprenticeship, which offers 31 college credits through Emily Griffith Technical College and a $2,500 stipend.

This Pre-Apprenticeship is part of the Healthy School Food Pathway, which prepares individuals for careers in school food across the country. School food is a great way to build a mission-driven, family-friendly culinary career. Schools offer full- or part-time schedules from early morning to mid-afternoon.
