Volunteer: SHOP (Seniors Helping Other People) Ramp BuilderSHOP volunteers assist Weld County community members with mobility limitations in keeping their homes accessible. Working in a team, volunteers construct and assemble custom mobility ramps in and around a client’s home. This is a unique volunteer position that allows a skilled team of volunteers to design a custom-built ramp for a clients’ home. VOLUNTEERS DO NOT NEED TO BE SKILLED, WE WILL TRAIN YOU! If you can pick up a hammer, we can teach you the rest. Time Commitment Our ideal volunteers are able to commit to a minimum of 8-16 hours per month of on-site installation work during most of the year and 10 hours per month during winter months divided into one 4 hour and one 6 hour day. Volunteer Job Description · Working under the guidance and instruction of the SHOP volunteer team, assist the team in constructing and assembling mobility ramps. Duties and Responsibilities · Attend a volunteer orientation and complete volunteer paperwork prior to first appointment. · Be familiar with and follow all procedures and rules as described in the volunteer handbook and at training and orientation · Provide Feedback and ask Questions!- Cultivate staff are there to help and support you · Provide basic construction duties and be comfortable with using basic battery and corded power tools (we will train you) · Be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from 40 degrees to 90 degrees · Provide a ready ear to listen, be a friend, show we care · May also need to pick up supplies for clients who are unable to obtain for themselves · Have enough schedule flexibility to commit to a full build (jobs can take anywhere from one to two days to complete, depending on the size of the ramp) You will enjoy volunteering for SHOP: · If you enjoy working on a cohesive team, creatively solving challenging design issues, meeting interesting people and a sense of accomplishment knowing that you have helped a community member become more self-sufficient and remain in their home longer. Volunteer: Carry-Out Caravan Grocery Delivery DriverCarry-Out Caravan volunteers assist seniors in receiving life sustaining nutrition, keeping them more independent, and nourished in their homes. Volunteers help clients enjoy healthier and happier lives.
