Point in Time Count 2022

Expired

Description

The Homeless Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a federally mandated, annual, one-day, nationwide survey that gathers information about the number of people experiencing homelessness in the United States. The information from the PIT Count is used to allocate U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding for programs that serve the homeless population here in Weld County.

Responsibilities and Duties

Volunteers are required to approach individuals on the street or at a designated location (i.e. Lincoln Park Library, Salvation Army, etc.) and ask them if they would be willing to complete the survey. It is expected that each volunteer read/walk through each question on the survey to ensure that it is filled out completely and correctly. Volunteers must agree to canvas the entire area to which they have been assigned. This ensures that the most comprehensive count as possible is completed.

Qualifications

  • Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Depending on the assigned location, some volunteers will be required to walk outside for several hours. Volunteers should be prepared with warm winter clothes to stay warm.
  • Per CDC guidelines, masks are required to be worn at all times when indoors, or when surveying a person experiencing homelessness.
  • Beverages and snack will be provided and volunteers will be allowed to return to home-base, at the Housing Navigation Center, to warm up in the middle of their shift. If you are unable to walk around for an extended period of time, please let us know, and we will arrange for you to be located at a location that will require minimum/no walking.
  • While previous experience is not necessary, it is recommended that participants be open and willing to engage in conversation with people experiencing homelessness.
  • Some volunteers may be required to drive to different locations in Weld County. If you are unable to drive, please let us know and we will assign you the appropriate location.
