- Signature Bluffs Nature Area is a river habitat for all sorts of wildlife and provides recreational opportunities from hiking, to kayaking and fishing to the Greeley community. However, heavy rains and heavy visitation has highlighted the need for volunteers to give back to this open space!
- On this project, you'll join around 50 volunteers in re-constructing about .4 miles of primitive single track trail. There will also be the option to help with bookend fencing to keep users on the trail, and clear trash and other debris that has accumulated in the area from recent storms.
- On this project, you have the opportunity to:
- Assist in the rerouting and rebuilding of a section of primitive trail in the nature area, making it more resistant to erosion from heavy rain.
- Help with installing bookend fencing along the boardwalk and help build flood closure gates to keep users on the trail.
- Clear out trash and other debris that has accumulated in the area from recent storms. No experience is required, just the willingness to be outside, meet new people, and learn from VOC staff and volunteer leaders!
- Due to the amount of rainfall we've received this past spring there is a part of this trail that is completely washed out. As a result, users are creating social trails to avoid puddles and mud, causing lasting environmental impacts on the fragile riparian ecosystems around the trail. According to Leave No Trace, it takes fewer than 25 passes over sensitive vegetation to permanently damage plant life. Your work will prevent further damage to the surrounding environment and create a more sustainable and enjoyable recreation opportunity for the community!
