Who We Are

Empower Weld County Youth to Thrive with Life Skill Education

Youth Empowerment Group (YEG) is a Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening youth mental, social, and behavioral health by equipping Weld County schools and youth organizations with free, research-backed life skill curriculums with interactive games that help young people thrive.

Youth are experiencing unprecedented challenges, and life skill education is a research-backed solution.

We're seeking more volunteers who wish to make a lasting impact on youth— by equipping more Weld organizations to provide free life skill education.

What We Do

We create engaging, easy-to-use video life skill curriculums that schools and youth-serving organizations can use in their own programs and services to promote positive youth outcomes. Online access is free to those serving Weld County youth.

Our curriculums—PowerUp Co-Ed and PowerUp Girls for Life—serve students in grades 5–12 and teach topics crucial for well-being and success today, such as:

  • Mental and emotional wellness
  • Healthy relationships, friendship and communication skills
  • Personal and school safety, bullying prevention and defense
  • Media management and healthy habits
  • Self-esteem, confidence, and equality
  • Healthy decision-making and conflict solving
  • Productive mindsets and academic skills

Designed for simplicity and impact, our online video-based curriculums are plug-and-play, requiring minimal preparation, training, and supplies. Fun, interactive games enhance learning, empathy, communication, confidence, belongingness, and positive culture.

In 2023, we co-produced a national film project interviewing youth, “Growing Up is Harder Than Ever” as featured in Time Magazine. Clips are being incorporated into video lessons to harness the power of peer-to-peer influence and support.

Our many pilot programs helped us evolve our innovative curriculums for maximal engagement, enjoyment, impact, and easy use. Our team's university graduate students  teach PowerUp Co-Ed throughout Weld County at Aims' College for Kids summer program.

Our mission is to reach more Weld County youth with free empowering life skill education. You can provide crucial help by volunteering in one of our three new temporary, flexible volunteer roles. Please join us!
